Whose voices are being heard? Apply for the exchange program of foreign artists from Poland and Norway!    

We invite artists belonging to minority groups living in Poland to apply for the residency exchange , “Whose voices are being heard?” implemented by Wroclaw Institute of Culture (Wroclaw/PL), Hvitsten Salong (Hvitsten/NO) and Safemuse (Oslo/NO). The year-and-a-half-long project benefits from funding from the EEA funds under the Culture Program. Its main goal is to equalize the opportunities and visibility of minority artists and create safe and inclusive spaces for artistic work.

Rave, improvisation, meditation, body – “LUCIDITY” performance in Barbara 

A daydream, provocative sounds of rave, ecstatically moving bodies and a pleasantly calming blue light that puts the audience in a meditative state. January 12 at 6 pm. Wrocław Institute of Culture invites you to Barbara for a Arnis Aleinikovas’ performance entitled “LUCIDITY”. Participation is free, but registration is required.

Summary of Maria Yakymenko’s artistic residency 

The Ukrainian artist, a resident of the Wrocław Institute of Culture as part of the European MagiC Carpets platform, worked for a month running workshops with a group of Wrocław’s newcomers. The collective activities of Mariia Yakymenko together with a workshops participants translated into a social portrait of our city composed of mosaic stories. Group created an artistic publication – a spatial ZINE full of collages.

Mariia Yakymenko and Wrocław’s newcomers invite you to the premiere of the zine “Portable House”

Mariia Yakymenko, a resident of the Wrocław Institute of Culture, worked creative for a month and runned a series of workshops with a group of new residents of Wrocław. The collective actions of the Ukrainian artist together with a large group translated into a social portrait of the city composed of mosaic stories. “I came to Wrocław for the weekend and I live here to this day.” This and other stories, not only Polish, are illustrated by collages that make up subsequent pages of the zine – the artistic publication “Portable house”. Soon we will have opportunity to see the project results – the zine premiere will take place on December 15 at. 5:30 p.m in Barbara – join us!

“Portable House” by Mariia Yakymenko   

We are starting another residency organized within the international network – MagiC Carpets! Mariia Yakymenko will visit Wrocław in late November and early December. Ukrainian artist will create a collective zine, consisting of collages made with new residents of Wroclaw during her workshops at Barbara.

About URKA’s artistic residency

The residency project “The Yourself Library” by Davide D’Angelo, known as URKA, took place at the invitation of the Wrocław Institute of Culture as part of the european platform, MagiC Carpets. The Italian artist worked with the new inhabitants of Wrocław, local youth. During his month-long stay, the resident conducted a series of eight creative workshops where the main goal was to search for a “common language” between people of different origins and cultures.
